Two years of life abroad! Holy cow.
I’ve debated recapping my second year in Ireland because, honestly, not much has changed. We’ve been in limbo for the past two years and still haven’t been able to do anything that we planned. BUT, once we’re back in action…all bets are off.
I decided to do a little #CatieBethInIreland Q&A and asked you guys if you had any questions on the move/transition.
Q: Is it a permanent move?
A: I don’t know why, but this is one of the most frequent questions I get, haha. Yes! We hopefully/eventually will be building a house on a couple of acres here and will *finally* get settled in. I don’t see us moving anywhere different anytime soon.
Q: Do you feel like you’ve made new friends?
A: I’m pretty lucky that all of the gals I’ve met have been friends at first sight kind of feeling! They love shopping, traveling, and food just as much as I do.
Q: What do you miss most?
A: Mexican food, life in Houston (in a “glad we lived there” type of way), the consistently good weather, the easy access to anything and everything, and obvi being a cheaper flight away from my crew.
Q: Is it what you expected?
A: Kind of a hard one to answer since we moved a couple of months before lockdown. But to sum it up, hell no. In my mind, I was thinking we would be building or in a house within six months to a year and traveling to different countries every couple of months. Due to all of the setbacks, it will probably be year five before I actually feel settled/in a routine. However, this allowed us to save money for our future home and explore Ireland- both really huge wins. We’re really lucky!
Here’s to many more pints, hopefully more trips & adventures!
