One of my goals for the rest of 2020 is to prioritize self-care! Over the past couple of weeks, I have tried to give myself at least one night a week to do a face mask, clean makeup brushes (while vibing to John Mayer or a fave podcast), fake tan, or give myself a mani/pedi. We have been in our second lockdown for a couple of weeks now, and I’m determined to make sure this time around, I pay more attention to self-care. In this post, I’m sharing some products I’ve been using to help with that! Starting with…
THE FIT
Who would have thought matching sweat sets would be the biggest trend this year? I’m def a fan and love feeling cute while being super cozy! *I’ve noticed a few Irish small businesses that sell matching sets too.
If you’re the type that likes to wear, I like to call them- human clothes, I’ve loved going with a simple black tank with a fuzzy cardi. Here are some options to keep you cozy while still feeling put together.
THE NO MAKEUP MAKEUP LOOK
Pixi setting spray // a little mist is perfect for refreshing your skin after a day of work or morning after a wine night! I’ve started using it religiously.
Kiehl’s skincare // my 2020 fave, a full-on skincare routine! I incorporated a vitamin c serum and face oil into my everyday routine. I keep it as SIMPLE as possible and don’t like to overdo it. I stick to cleanser, serum, oil, eye cream, and moisturizer for my nighttime skincare routine.
Fake tan // I take advantage of the time it takes to apply/dry by listening to a podcast. I also am one of those people who just love being tan, so this makes me happy.
Heat protectant // I’m always saying this is something I need to make sure I’m using! I’ve got all of my everyday hair products in a basket and made sure to include a heat protectant.
Clarifying shampoo // It’s a deep clean for your hair! I have tried a few US brands in the past, but I am currently using OGX Clarify & Shine+ Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo & Conditioner (sold in the US and Ireland). I try to use it once a week.
Volume spray // Giving myself a lil wannabe blowout on the weekend has become part of my quarantine routine. I’ve found this volume spray helps!
MISC.
Snacks // The amount of homemade salsa and guac or charcuterie boards I’ve made over the past year is insane. Find a few easy recipes and perfect them/add your own twist!
Essential Oil Diffuser // I’ve always been intrigued by these. I also follower a blogger that shows how to make random things with oils too (like sink cleaner – wow I’m clearly getting old). Now, I’m in love with my diffuser! It is an easy way to elevate your self-care night. My favorite scent to use is the lavender. For a gal with anxiety – I don’t know why I didn’t get one sooner haha. I put the light to purple, throw in a few drops, and my room turns into a little spa. I bought a less expensive option to see how I liked it, but it’s now something I’ll want in every room of the house.
Twinkle Lights // I always feel like I’m back in high school when I put these up around the holidays, but I really love it. It makes the room SO COZY!
Shows//
Now that we’ve got our outfit, beauty routine, and extras down, here’s what you can binge while you relax.
That ’70s Show – Started it for the first time this year and LOVED it! And then they took it off Ireland Netflix. 🙁
Formula 1: Drive to Survive – If you and your boo are looking for something to watch, I love it! We watched the second season this year and it’s really interesting.
Desperate Housewives – Watching this for the first time and it’s so good! I remember seeing it on TV growing up, but never followed the show.
Emily in Paris – Deff something I’d watch again. I know this has gotten a lot of hate, but I’m that girl and anything Paris related I love.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – SO SO good! Super funny!
Southern Charm – Because it’s my little piece of SC and y’all know I’m a reality TV junkie.
The Bachelorette – Stopped watching half way thorugh Peter’s season, but decided to give this new season a chance (purely because were in quarantine haha). I’ve now made it part of my Sunday routine. Grab a glass of your fave drink, make a charcuterie board, get the puppy, and enjoy.
I’d also recommend Sex and The City if you haven’t ever watched or all of the Twilight movies which I’m starting/finishing in this lockdown haha.
And there you have it! Nothing out of the ordinary, but if anything, I hope it inspires you to be a little selfish and give yourself a self-care night. Be sure to comment on your quarantine self-care products or activities!
