While drinking a glass of red and scrolling on Groupon, I decided to book a weekend away to Sligo. We spent three days exploring the town and fell in love. So much food, beautiful scenery, and we managed to check something off the bucket list.
Stay tuned to see what we ate, where we went, and what I wore.
It was a pretty chilled trip since it was our first one in what feels like forever, and due to COVID-19, we didn’t plan as much as we usually would. For example, our first afternoon, we caught the end of Ella Enchanted, haha. Don’t worry; we ended the night watching James Bond. The one with Pierce Brosnan- my fave! Did you know he is Irish?! I guess I’ve always had a thing for Irish guys 😉
Okay, enough chit chat. Here’s the scoop:

Penny Cafe – The cutest little cafe right in town. We stumbled upon it walking around town and loved it. We both got a hot chocolate and it was 10/10. Really sweet staff too!
Hooked – Def our fave spot on the trip! We went for breakfast, but all of the menus looked fab. Kev and I each got our own main and we split THE MOST EPIC pancake. It was apple crumble and nutella (apple for him, nutella for me haha) and it was 10/10.
Eala Bhan – Stopped for dinner here and I had the best steak of my life. If you like butter, you’d love it too haha. The wine, staff, and food were are really great!
Mammy Johnston’s – You can’t not stop here if you’re in Strandhill and need a sweet treat!
Shells Cafe & Bakery – It was really hard to find somewhere open on a Monday, but this cute spot was! It was a cute little cafe & would have even better sitting outside in the sun. They also have such a cute bakery attached to it! The cafe side has a little shop where you can buy bits and pieces.
Stoaked – On our list for next time! Looks amazing and was recommended to us.

Visit Strandhill – This is a small town in Sligo, only about 15 minutes from the main area. It’s where 90% of the things I mention below are! It’s right on the beach and has the cutest little places to eat. They also have a spa that’s on my list to check out next time!
Hiking – Knocknarea was a shortish and SWEET hike we went on our last day. The views were unreal! We have a few other hikes on our list for next time.
Surfing – Hello, bucket list item! I never thought this is something I would actually do, but Kev brought up the idea, and I was 100% in! Plus, since Ireland has no sharks, I was ten times less nervous, haha. We took a two-hour surfing lesson with Sligo Surf Experience. The staff were clearly pros and super lovely. Not only did they teach us how to surf, but they also recommended loads of things to do and where to eat around Strandhill! When we come back, we will definitely be booking another session with them! My advice – stretch before!! Haha, I was so sore after! It was so so fun and you can’t not do it when you go!
Explore Town – As I mentioned, it was a pretty relaxed trip for us! We spent a lot of time wandering around town and eating haha.

Here are a few of the outfits I packed! One thing about traveling in Ireland is that you never know what the weather will be like! I’m so thankful I threw in jeans and a sweater at the last minute.

That wraps up our lil romantic getaway to Sligo, Ireland! As you can tell, we had such a great time. I’m so thankful we were able to *safely* travel around Ireland. It was good for my soul.
P.S. I missed my puppy!!! It was our first time being away from him, so coming home to see him was the cutest thing ever. We are going to rent a dog friendly place next time we go since Sligo seemed very dog friendly!
