I officially live in Ireland, y’all! Totally casual, right? If you’re new here or if you’ve been wanting more of the scoop, I’m going to answer a few of the common questions I’ve gotten & share a mini recap of my trips over the years to Europe.
Why Ireland?
My bf was born & raised in Ireland…not like he has family that lived here, like he actually lived here. Haha usually when I tell people they assume he just has Irish in him…and has red hair! He came to the US for college which is where we met. My first trip to his hometown was in December 2014 where I met his family and got to see Europe for the first time. We started the tradition of me spending every other Christmas in Ireland with his family. Eventually the tradition upgraded a bit by adding in a fun short trip to another location too.
Are you nervous about the move?
I’ve always been open to moving to Europe. When I was younger I swore I was going to meet my future husband in a cute cafe in London…haha! My man and I were both also getting a bit bored of Texas and were ready for a new challenge. This move should keep me entertained for a while. The main thing I’m nervous about is driving! As I’m typing this I just finished practicing and it’s not as horrible as my anxiety makes it out to be. Fingers crossed I’ll be blasting Shania Twain with the windows down in now time. But honestly, just like moving to Texas from SC, I’m excited about new challenges and experiences that come with moving. And how can you regret moving somewhere where you can fly to Paris/London/etc. for less than $100?
Will you miss your family/friends?
I’m from SC, so I like to say moving to Texas was a test run for me. I will be seeing my family the same amount of time as I did when I lived in Texas, the only real difference is the time zones. I’m super close with my family, but my heart was never set to stay in SC. All I can say is thank God for FaceTime and my new Amazon device where you can video chat! As for friends, I have amazing BFF’s in the US and you bet your ass they are coming to visit me. I’ve gotten pretty good at the long distance BFF thing after college. Fun fact – my BFF is from the Philippines! We met in college too.
Here’s a look at my journey over the years…if I only I knew then this would be my future home sweet home.
2014
My first trip to Ireland! I went to spend Christmas with my man and meet his family. I was jet lagged, just got out of the shower with wet hair so prob made a great first impression. 😉
Not only was I introduced to Guinness (obvs) but also to Irish pubs, three types of potatoes at dinners, and the wide range of accents. All a plus!
This was pre-blogging days! I started my blog the month after…would have been amazing content to launch it- whoops.

2015
Since we were in college at this time, we were long distance over the summers. We found a decent deal on tickets, my cute family pitched in, and I flew to Ireland to celebrate my mans birthday! We also took a little trip over to London which was on my bucket list. I took him to a cute cafe too for good luck 😉

2016
Went to PARIS and Ireland for Christmas! Literally still pinching myself. It was so amazing. Even though I couldn’t feel my toes from the cold, wore wedges to the Louvre, and didn’t go shopping – I regret nothing.

2018
We went to Vienna + Ireland! After picking both of our mini trips to both London and Paris, I thought it would be nice if I let him pick 🙂 Off to Vienna we went! Again, it was cold but amazing.

2019
My first Christmas as a freaking resident! I landed in Dublin, switched terminals, and went to Spain for a week! Now I’m back to my new reality and ready for our adventure here.

Can’t wait to share my journey of moving to another continent + all of our trips with you guys! I have officially added *travel* to my bio because I’m expecting a lot more of it. More updates to come!
