One thing I love about Houston is that there are mural walls everywhere! Thanks to a lovely couple noticing I was getting photos, they pointed out this one downtown. It is for sure my favorite one I’ve come across so I couldn’t pass up getting this weeks blog photos here.
I wanted to touch on dressing up for holiday parties, but also how to get more out of the clothes that you have only for special occasions. We don’t all dress like Blair Waldorf or Samantha Jones on the daily, so it’s not as common to wear the glamours items in your closet if you’re not attending an event. Well I say life is too short. So I’m writing this post to hopefully give y’all inspiration on how to restyle your formal clothes. Some items you might not be able to get away with (like I’m not wearing a gorgeous gown out to go shopping…but that is kind of tempting), but I’m sure you have at least one skirt or top that you can style with more casual pieces! Fancy skirt and a flannel shirt, even the fur vest trend was everywhere last year and being paired with casual tops!
Now for outfit details…
This sequin design top is from my FAVORITE boutique in Ireland, Folkster. I’ve mentioned the shop before, but they sell clothes from all over the world. The tag shares where they found each item. This top was purchased in London and is by the brand Lace and Beads. To dress up a sequin top for a Christmas or New Years Party, you could wear it with a black ballet style skirt or a leather skirt. To dress it down, in this outfit I paired it with a leather jacket and black ripped jeans. Adding the different styles dress down the formal vibes from the top. It’s perfect for a day or night out in the city, or a date night! Shop similar tops here,
