Ladies, it’s time to face the facts. I only have two weeks left as a college student. This big change means many things, one of which is that my professional wardrobe is taking center stage! My goal has been to find pieces that can be worn to both work and social settings. I recently received this dress from The Muddy Pearl. Not only is it adorable, but it can be worn casually or as work wear! Lucky me!
I first styled the dress to express a casual look. I paired it with black sandals and statement earrings. This look is perfect for a lunch date or an adventurous day around town. I styled it with my black cross body Kate Spade bag and added turquoise Kendra Scott earrings for a pop!
To transition this look to work wear, I needed a few things; for starters, a cardigan or blazer. I chose a white cardigan to add contrast. Trading trendy sandals for nude wedges was the second change necessary to complete this look. I purchased these wedges from the Steve Madden outlet and want them in every color! They are the perfect staple for your shoe closet and a basic for creating your working girl wardrobe.
Another tip… the handbag! I normally do this anyway, but take the strap off your cross body and throw it into a bigger handbag. This not only makes it easier on you, but also allows you the space you need to hold your planner and work materials. We all know that carrying flats in your bag saves you from sore feet, so try adding this lifesaver as well!
To calm my look at tad I swapped out my bright earrings for a simpler pair of hot pink Kate Spade studs (courtesy of one of my besties- she knows what I like). Yes, I just said simple and hot pink in the same sentence, but you can have a little fun at work, right?
There you have it, my first look in my newest Working Girl category. I can’t wait to share my transition of college girl to business lady with y’all! Together, we will learn where to shop, what our wardrobe essentials are, and beauty tips for the “real world”.
