Ladies & Gents, grab your scarves and mittens because the cold is back. In today’s outfit, I’m showing you how I styled the classic cable knit sweater. The cable knit sweater is a universal look that can be styled in many ways. From celebs and style icons like Olivia Palermo and Taylor Hill, two of my faves, style the cable knit sweater differently, making this winter garb an easy way to show off your personal style!

A cable knit sweater is a staple for any persons wardrobe. It is a classic piece that allows you to add your own touch through accessories or a pop or color, but it’s also perfect for creating a simplistic look. By adding dainty gold layered necklaces and a pair of riding boots or throwing on simple bangles, the possibilities of styling this sweater are endless. I personalized my look around the classic cable knit sweater style by accessorizing to create an a preppy ensemble. By paring an H&M flannel colored scarf (similar linked here) and basic Lucky Brand brown boots (similar linked here), my preppy look was completed. With the detailing on this J.crew sweater, like the buttons on the top of the back, and the overall pattern, I was inspired to play up the classic preppy of this look. If you want to go for more of an edgy inspired look like Taylor Hill, add a pair of black leggings and black chunky boots. To dress up your cable knit sweater similar to Olivia Palmero, wear pastel jeans or a pleated skirt.

After spending the morning shopping, I gathered my hair into a messy bun which showed off my pearl studs from HandPicked. Keeping the jewelry simple for a relaxed day of browsing shops and enjoying the Sandhills atmosphere, this look kept me weather appropriate and still fashion forward.

Xo, Catie Beth
